The world has entered rapidly in the enigma of the fourth industrial revolution. The industry has gone through changes from the advent of the first industrial revolution in the 1780s. The first industrial revolution was powered by a steam engine and mechanical power of the water system. The second revolution was strengthened by the invention of electricity. The third industrial revolution was empowered by the huge computing power of computers. We are now in the juncture of the end of the third and dawning of the fourth industrial revolution. It matters to trace the industrial revolution because we live in an industrial society. Our day to day lives as well as decision makings is affected by the events in the industrial system. Hence it is important to be well known about the changes in the industrial system.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is marked by emerging technology breakthroughs in a number of fields, including artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, The Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing and autonomous vehicles. The main impact of this industrial revolution is the line between the physical world and the biological world getting blurred. Scientists are planning to use bio-chips in fifth generation computer instead of microchips. This is one small example of the changes going in the current time. These technological disruptions have posted a great challenge as well as an opportunity for the humankind.

Now the old way of thinking in existing fields are not going to work. We need a fresh new vision to embrace a change. First of all, the existing educational system must be remodelled. It doesn’t address the challenge posed by the fourth industrial revolution. The rise of soft skills like critical thinking, EQ etc. is changing the dynamics of work culture. We need a dynamic personality in every field to address the problems like climate change, poverty, environmental degradation etc. All these problems could be solved if leaders from all the field come to a common ground. The challenge posed by machines on human must be addressed wisely and carefully to make an earth a better place to live in.
